UP AND RUNNING...OR SHOULD I SAY SEWING !

UP AND RUNNING !

After a forced time away from my machine due to injury I am now back. This wee project was for a friend in works wee baby daughter. It was made from scraps left over from a quillow I am making in a class with Judith Hollies from Just Jude, I loved the way it turned out. The recipient loved it...it was nice to get back such positive feedback.

Saturday 24 August 2013

I am now feeling much fitter and am working hard with a physio to get the fingers moving again.
I have been inspired by a number of things to get my sewing machine up and running again. Firstly I had a lovely wee trip to Dublin for a week with the family and called in at the Kildare village shopping outlet...all you girls who like to shop should give that a wee go!! I got lovely Cath Kidston fabric at 7 euro a meter, am actually kicking myself that I did not buy more of it..calls for another wee trip down!!
I also got the chance, with map in hand and hubby and two teenage sons dragging behind!! to visit The Cloth House...lovely fabric shop..not cheap, but bought small amounts that will go far when mixed in with some other pieces.
My best friend then came back from America with a lovely stash for me..I have a great plan for this, which I will reveal when finished !
Lastly, I have been invited to join my first ever swap..The Modern Quilt Guild of Ireland have asked me to join a pincushion swap...am so excited and feel very inspired to take part.

I AM BACK !!!

I had a rather eventful start to my summer, in my quest to get fit and drop some weight, I decided I would ditch the car in favour of cycling to work...it resulted in this...one nasty tumble over the handlebars of my bike left me bruised and battered, and in plaster with two broken fingers!!!
I have been unable to work and carry on with the two loves of my life...sewing and golf! I had my finger set for three weeks at a 90% angle and was not even able to drive. Got lots of reading done and I suppose at least it was summer and we had a good one ! I have always been a glass half full sort of gal !

MEMORY QUILT

My sis had given me some of her daughters clothes and wanted something special made from them, I decided on a rag quilt which I then appliqued some of the wee motifs off her old clothes onto .

EASTER CUTIES

Decided to have a wee go myself...

EASTER ....

Was being inspired by a good friend to have a wee play at free motion sketching...here are her fab inspirations...

Sunday 24 March 2013

Getting to know you...getting to know all about you!!!

As some of you already know I recently purchased a phaff, so the arrival of the spring snow forced me to stay indoors and have a wee play with my new toy... even had a very child like attempt at free motion sketching and loved it... I even a go at baking a beautiful loaf of Irish soda bread with cranberries and sunflower seeds..really low in fat and delicious...that was until I spread lots of jummy butter up on the top of it...not so low fat then, but oh so worth it !!!

OOH THE CHOICES !!!

Was asked to make a bag for a teenager to take to college with her file blocks...she loves  lime green and red, cool blues and is also quite funky - thought this would fit the bill very well, different pattern on each side and lined with funky shoe pattern which make this reversable !

Make me something please !!

Him indoors had been feeling a bit left out whilst all around folk were getting things made for them...so he requested a new soap bag.

Monday 11 March 2013

Have realised that the previous posts were not a true reflection of the beautiful colours in the messenger bag...so this is post mark 2 !!

Sunday 10 March 2013

My new messenger bag, made from recycled clothes.

I have wonderful mothers day, starting off with breakfast in bed and then taken out for lunch. I have been blessed with two wonderful boys and despite all the teenage angst they still manage to make me smile and laugh and proud to be a mum to them both x
